Actor Saubin Shahir has been denied permission to travel abroad after the Ernakulam Magistrate Court rejected his petition to participate in an award show in Dubai.
Actor Saubin Shahir has been denied permission to travel abroad after the Ernakulam Magistrate Court rejected his plea to attend an award ceremony in Dubai.
The ‘Manjmel Boys’ actor sought approval to travel on 5 September for the award show in UAE. The permission in relation to the case of financial fraud related to the film was rejected.
Shahir was arrested in July, but was released on anticipatory bail on the same day. He later approached the court to get a discount on his bail terms for traveling abroad.
Kochi Maradu police registered a case Based on a complaint filed by Siraj Valiathara Hameed, a native of Arur. The complaint alleged that with actor-producer Saubin Shahir, producer Babu Shahir and Shaun Antony of Parva films, promising 40 percent of the dividends, if Siraj invested Rs 7 crore in ‘Manjumel Boys’. Despite the film becoming a blockbuster, Siraj claimed that he was not paid his share of profits.
However, the manufacturers denied the allegationsSaying that Siraj had failed to provide timely investment amount on time, which reportedly led to delays and disruption in the shooting schedule of the film. The complaint was later carried forward from the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Ernakulam after directions.
Meanwhile, the film, an Odd to Friendship, was included in the Pivotal roles in Sauubin Shahir, Srinath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganpati’s Poduval, Deepak Parambol and others. Released in 2024, ‘Manjumel Boys’ is the second largest -grossing Malayalam film of all times.
