Actor Mustafa Ahmed says fans still think he is Rizwan from Dhurandhar 2

Actor Mustafa Ahmed in an exclusive interview talks about fans’ reaction to his character, recalls key scenes and shares his dynamics with Ranveer Singh. He also told how he got this blockbuster project.

Talking about the love he has been receiving, actor Mustafa Ahmed said with a laugh, “I think maybe I will have to change my name to Rizwan.” Dhurandhar: Revenge. The fitness trainer played the role of an Indian spy and Ranveer Singh’s associate when he was in Lyari on his secret mission.

Ahmed got a chance to be a part of some high-octane action sequences, and his camaraderie with Ranveer’s Hamza/Jaskirat left fans wanting more. In an exclusive chat with India Today, the actor talks about Aditya Dhar’s film Milne and the ‘memes’ and ‘peak detailing’ surrounding it. Dhurandhar.

I am Rizwan for them.

He smiled and said, “I was just flying, and people came up to me asking for pictures. They also told me how much they liked the film and my performance. I am Rizwan for them and it is a great feeling.”

“They look surprised and ask me, ‘when did you come to india (When did you come back to India)? How do you travel in an auto?’ It’s funny and entertaining to see what a movie can do. People are very invested in all these characters.”

We also got Mustafa Ahmed to answer two of the most burning questions about his character: why did Hamza give him his diary, and why did they pretend not to know each other when they met at Alam’s (Gaurav Gera) shop. We asked him if any spin-offs are planned after Rizwan takes over, or if there’s more to the move.

Ahmed laughingly said that he has been asked such questions since the release of the film. “I have people writing to me saying that they want Rizwan to be their Indian Knight agent. After Hamza, he should complete the mission. They are very excited, hoping that he will kill all the enemies left on the list. It is really fun to read these theories and ideas, but it is all just fans dreaming wildly.”

Telepathic moment with Ranveer Singh

And what about Rizwan and Hamza’s first meeting, why didn’t they accept each other when they trained together? Mustafa said it was a surreal moment when they shot it, and it was almost telepathic for him and Ranveer Singh. He said they didn’t practice it or talk about it, but both decided to play based on similar feelings.

He smiled, “We didn’t want to make it obvious that we knew each other. But curious fans noticed that there was a small nod of the head when we shook hands. It was very natural for us, and if I can take some credit, our performance was quite impressive.”

Sharing more details about his favorite scene, the fitness expert-actor said that he enjoyed the most in the climax when he got to use the machine gun. He also shared that his conversation with Hamza, where they both bid farewell to each other, was also special for him.

The actor said, “We just exchange glances and he gives me a diary. It was very special and as Ranveer said, it took eight years in the making. While Hamza and Rizwan met recently, they have known each other for eight years. So when they part, all the emotions come out, but without even saying a word.”

He further recalled how he enjoyed shooting the training portion, which played during the credits. Ahmed said that he shot for about three days, but had been preparing for it for months. “And while becoming an agent, I think we also changed a bit. The way we walk or our stance, I realized it was different. You wouldn’t believe, when I enter somewhere I start looking for extraction points. The level of alertness is very different,” he said.

How stalwart happened

On a final note, Mustafa Ahmed discussed how stalwart happened to him. He shared that he is working with Aditya Dhar and told how much he loves it Uri: The Surgical Strike And their interest in doing something like this.

The actor said, “I think they took it very seriously and asked me to audition fanfare. I played the character of Sunny in the film and people liked my work. Then he asked me to audition for this film and everything happened. But to be honest, I took my time in saying yes because it was such a big project and I wanted to be sure about taking the responsibility. But he encouraged me, and I was confident about the style, and so it all happened very naturally. And now, seeing the love Rizwan is getting, I feel I have made the right choice.”

Dhurandhar 2 It has crossed the Rs 1500 crore mark at the box office in two weeks.
