Actor Mukesh reacts to harassment allegations, accuses colleague Meenu of blackmailing him
After Malayalam actor Meenu Muneer leveled serious allegations of sexual harassment against Mukesh M, the actor-politician issued a statement declaring himself innocent.
Actor-politician Mukesh M has issued a statement declaring himself innocent after Malayalam actor Meenu Muneer accused him of sexual harassment.
Meenu had made allegations against actors Mukesh M, Jayasurya, Maniyanpilla Rajuand accused Idavela Babu of verbal and physical abuse during their collaboration on film projects. Actor Mukesh, who is also a member of the Legislative Assembly, addressed the situation in his statement and stressed the importance of a thorough investigation.
The statement said, “In response to the allegations made against me and other colleagues from the film industry, I welcome the ongoing investigation. A fair and transparent investigation is important to uncover the truth behind the allegations being discussed in the public domain.”
Expressing his concern for the society, he said, “Being an actor and a public representative, I have a deep responsibility towards the society. Coming from a family with a rich theatrical tradition, I am perhaps best able to understand the pain and concerns of people associated with the arts.”
Mukesh M said in his statement, “My mother, who started acting at the age of fourteen, is still acting at the age of eighty-seven. I have no problem with people who want to target me politically. Similar allegations were made against me in 2018 as part of a political drama, which was rejected by the public. Now I am giving some clarifications with evidence to prove my innocence to those who are trying to judge me.”
Mukesh claimed that Munir had first sought financial help and later tried to blackmail him. “This group, which was constantly blackmailing me for money, has now turned against me at this juncture,” Mukesh said.
He has requested a comprehensive and transparent investigation to clear his name.
The controversy has further escalated with the recent release of an edited version of the Hema Committee report, which details numerous cases of harassment and exploitation in the Malayalam film industry.
