He termed the Censor Board’s decision to halt the film’s release as a “big mistake” and pointed out that a majority of the scrutiny committee had already approved the film. “That is why the U/A certificate was issued by the majority vote in the inquiry committee,” Mahendran said.

The actor also rejected claims that the film could harm society and said, “Vijay would never make a film that corrupts society. None of us know what is actually shown in the film, so it is not clear why such allegations are being made.”

Referring to the collective responsibility of the film’s crew, Mahendran said that the project involved many experienced assistant directors, editors and writers. He insisted, “If there was anything wrong or offensive they wouldn’t have shot it in the first place.”

The actor also suggested that if there were any concerns, they could have been addressed without stalling the release. Mahendran said, “If the defense symbol or some scenes were the issue, the censor board could have asked to blur those scenes. It is unnecessary to stop the film completely.”
