Actor Darshan’s fan club D Company has requested for donations on his birthday.
Fans of actor Darshan have planned to celebrate his birthday on February 16 through social service, following his ethos of celebrating by helping others instead of organizing public celebrations.
Actor Darshan will not be attending his birthday celebrations this year due to ongoing legal cases, but his absence has not affected his followers in any way. On February 16, fans across Karnataka will honor the day by engaging in charitable activities, reflecting the actor’s long-standing message that “true celebration lies not in flowers, cakes, cut-outs or fireworks, but in helping the society.”
The appeal to abandon traditional celebrations in favor of social action came directly from Darshan’s official fan group, D Company. The group has urged supporters to consider visiting orphanages, old-age homes or centers for special children and contribute whatever they can – be it food, fruits, books, medicines, or their time. The note, written in Kannada, emphasizes, “There is no pressure to do something big.”
Darshan’s philosophy, which he has often shared with his fans – whom he affectionately calls “celebrities” – is that small acts of kindness and community service are the truest form of celebration. As the message highlights, “The smiles of ten children or the blessings of five elders, is the greatest honor that can be given to De Boss.”
In the message broadcast by D Company, Darshan’s gratitude was also addressed, he had earlier thanked his fans for turning his birthday into a movement of social service every year. The note recalled past efforts including food distribution, donations of clothes and books, and blood donation camps, “while urging fans to avoid flowers, cakes, cut-outs and fireworks and instead focus on donations and community work.” These charitable works have been described as “the true identity of the De Boss fan family”.
