Aamir and Gauri got married in a registered ceremony at their Mumbai home in the presence of close family and friends. Many of Aamir’s old associates including Rajkumar Hirani and Ashutosh Gowariker were present. Amin said the two-day celebration was kept simple, private and free of traditional wedding rituals.

talking to RediffAmin said, “Kiran was in the UK at the time; Azad came back for the wedding.”

On Reena’s absence, Amin said that not attending the function does not mean that there is a problem in their relationship. He said, “I think some absences are natural. Sometimes giving people their space is also a sign of love and respect. You don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable on such an important occasion.”

He said that Aamir maintains cordial relations with both Reena and Kiran. He added, “But they continue to share a healthy relationship. Through Paani Foundation, Aamir, Satya (Satyajit Bhatkal), Kiran and Reena still work together professionally.”

Amin also recalled an example of Aamir supporting Reena in difficult times. He said, “When Reena’s father passed away, Aamir asked Karim and I if we could help. Reena was traveling at the time and Aamir stayed until the funeral.”

how was the marriage

Amin shared that Aamir and Gauri decided not to follow traditional ceremonies. She said, “The wedding was held at Aamir’s house. We didn’t follow any traditional wedding rituals. Many people asked if there would be sangeet or other ceremonies, but that didn’t happen. We just spent time together, talked, laughed and enjoyed each other’s company.”

He said the celebrations lasted for two days, with the first evening focused on bringing the two families together. The actor said, “I think the best part was that we all met a day before the wedding, like friends get together for lunch. It was a casual evening where Aamir had invited his close friends. Gauri’s family was also there; they are very nice and wonderful people.”

He further added, “The first evening was all about getting to know each other. Even though we were meeting Gauri’s family for the first time, it didn’t feel like that. It felt like we had known each other for years. They are a very loving family.”

The actor also said that Gauri’s father, Robert ‘Bob’ Spratt, attended the ceremony along with his brother, sister, daughter Shauna and other family members. She shared, “His father loves to ride bikes, and we spent a lot of time chatting with him. They are a well-to-do family, yet there is no swagger at all. They love Aamir and are very proud of him.”

How is Aamir as a person

In the same interview, Amin described Aamir as an extremely emotional person who had gone through heartbreak. He said that people may make fun of Aamir finding love again after many years, but his personal life included pain, tears and difficult times. He said, ‘Relationships are never as simple as outsiders imagine, and it is unfair to assume that only one person is responsible when a marriage ends.’

Amin also said that Aamir’s devotion to work often came at a personal cost. ‘Anyone living with someone so deeply immersed in their work can feel neglected at times,’ she said. She added that Aamir always treated the marriage with respect, was honest and fair in his relationships and ensured that his former family and children were taken care of as he moved on in life.
