The film ‘Missing Ladies’ directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan will be screened at the Supreme Court of India today on August 9. Both Kiran and Aamir will attend this special screening and interact with the audience.
According to a report by Live Mint, on the initiative of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, the Communication Division of the Supreme Court will hold a special screening of the film Missing Ladies on Friday, August 9. The screening, which will take place after court hours from 4:15 pm to 6:20 pm, will be for all Supreme Court judges, their spouses and registry members. After the film, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao will interact with the audience. The event will take place in the auditorium of the Supreme Court Administrative Building Complex.
This screening is part of the CJI’s ongoing gender sensitisation programme in the Supreme Court. According to the same news portal, CJI DY Chandrachud told Bar & Bench that the initiative is aimed at raising awareness among Supreme Court staff. He added that such activities, though often unpublicised, are part of wider efforts to assist staff, including the recently launched round-the-clock Ayurvedic clinic for their treatment and comfort. The film screening also provides an opportunity for staff to connect with each other.
The notice reads, “As part of the activities organised during the seventy-fifth year of the establishment of the Supreme Court of India, the film Missing Ladies based on the theme of gender equality will be screened on Friday, 9th August 2024 at the Auditorium, C-Block, Administrative Building Complex. Ms. Kiran Rao, director of the film and Mr. Aamir Khan, producer of the film will also be present during the screening.”
Missing Ladies stars Nitanshi Goyal, Pratibha Ranta and Sparsh Srivastava in the lead roles, while Ravi Kishan, Chhaya Kadam and Geeta Agarwal Sharma appear in key supporting roles. The film tells the story of two brides, Phool (played by Nitanshi Goyal) and Pushpa (played by Pratibha Ranta), who accidentally switch places on a train.
The film, which released on March 1, received positive reviews and earned nearly Rs 8 crore worldwide, a remarkable success considering its modest budget. It is currently streaming on Netflix, where it is topping the charts.
