Aamir Khan Interview: Actor across Sitare land first wanted to cast Shivkarthikeyan, ‘I felt why I was not doing the film’

Sitare Zamin Paar starring Aamir Khan in the lead role hit a big screen on 20 June 2025. As the film is currently running successfully in theaters, the Bollywood superstar participated in a masterclass in Pinkvilla.

In his special conversation with us, the actor revealed how he initially planned to serve as a producer of the film and wanted to take Farhan Akhtar and Shivkarthikeyan in the lead roles.

Talking in detail, Aamir Khan said, “When Lal Singh did not work, I broke and wanted to take a break from acting. I told the director of the film, RS Prasanna about it, who was disappointed with my decision but at the same time.”

The actor said, “Accepting my prediction as an actor, he agreed and asked me to continue as a producer. I agreed, and then we talked to Farhan and Shivkarthikeyan. The film was initially being made as bilinguals in Hindi and Tamil.”

Continuing his conversation, Khan revealed how he always joins the final draft of a script, sitting with the author and/or director. He widened, “I was in the final stages with Prasanna and Divya (SZP writer), as we were discussing and correcting the scenes, I felt why I was not doing the film.”

After a week’s discussion, Aamir confessed to Prasanna as to how he was feeling like doing a film, yet closed Farhan and SK as the lead.

At that moment, the director once again urged Aamir to play the role as he was the first choice of the character. Unchastrous to return to his word with Akhtar and SK, the Bollywood superstar understood Prasanna’s plight as a director, who waited for 8 years to work with him.

This inspired Aamir to talk with his contemporaries and eventually returned to the ground.
