Google unveiled the Pixel 9A this week, its new inexpensive phone with the current tensor G4 chipset. However, the phone will not actually be available until April and we do not even have an exact date. So, let’s browse and see what else is there.
First, the pricing of 9A – we know that it starts at $ 500, which must be for the 8/128GB model. There is also an 8/256GB version, but pricing for this has not been declared yet. Pixel 8A was $ 500/$ 560 for the same memory configuration at the time of launch – and it is still. The old model should be discounted yet, until it is closing.
Therefore, we moved to Google Pixel 9 instead-premium mid-ranger from the Pixel series. This base is quite step up to $ 680 for 128GB model (and it is with a solid $ 120 discount). You get a slightly more compact device (slimmer bezels, the same size 6.3 “1080p+ 120Hz OLED display), but also a small battery (4,700mAh vs 5,100mAh).
Camera is the biggest reason for additional payment for more than 9A Pixel 9. The 50MP main has a huge sensor (1/1.31 “vs. 48mp 1/2.0”) and you get a high resolution 48MP ultra-wide (vs. 13MP). Both phones have aluminum frames and have been rated IP68, but using GG Victus 2 instead of 9 Gorilla Glass 3. Satellite SOS is also missing from 9A.

Google Pixel 9 Pro starts at $ 750. It is $ 250 more than 9A, so they are not direct competitive. But with only $ 70 between 9 and 9 Pro, it is still considering. It has more RAM (16GB), a high resolution display (1280p+ versus 1080p+) and, more importantly, better cameras – a 48MP 5X (113 mm) periscope and 42MP selfie camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Fe is an interpretation of a middle-line of the FE flagship series. It uses Exynos 2400E chipset, which shares DNA with tenser chip but provides high performance. This is a large device (6.7 “display vs. 6.3”), but you cannot tell from a 4,700mAh battery. You get 8MP 3x (75 mm) telephoto lens, so you do not have to rely on digital zoom with Pixel 9A. Both pixels and S24 Fe will receive 7 OS updates.

The OnePlus 12R is powered by Snapdragon 8 General 2 – it can be two generations older, but it is still faster than the Tensor G4. It is lost in Exynos 2400E, though. Anyway, 6.78 “1264p+ OLED display is a LTPO panel, usually a premium feature. And the larger 5,500mAh battery supports 100W fast 100W wired charging, but lacks wireless. Finally, IP64 rating is low, but should be fine in practice.

Finally, you can detect a new form factor with Motorola Razr 2024 for the same price as the pixel – $ 500 (however, again with 256GB storage instead of 128GB). Especially in graphics tests, the dimension 7300x is very slow compared to the tensor. Despite being a fold, RAZR has the IPX8 water resistance.
