What happens when a mother-son routine cooking session takes an unexpected and hilarious turn? In an Instagram video that has now gone viral, we see a simple task of cooking rapidly turn into a comedy of errors. It all starts when the mother asks her son to add ginger garlic paste to the dish, but what happens next will make you ROFL.

The video starts with the mother calmly saying, “Tharush, add 1 teaspoon of ginger garlic paste to this.” Her son, completely focused on the task at hand, replies with a confident, “Got it” before turning away for a moment. He returns not with ginger-garlic paste, but with a spoon, fresh ginger, garlic pods – and, wait for it – toothpaste! With all seriousness, he proceeds to add each ingredient to the pot. First, the spoon, then the ginger, then the garlic and finally, like a cooking expert, he adds the toothpaste to the pot while chanting “1 spoon, ginger, garlic, paste.”

As the mother continues cooking in another part of the kitchen, her back to the camera, she does not realize what is happening. But as soon as she turns back, she gets shocked. “to stop!” She screams, snatching the toothpaste from her son’s hand. “Use your brain!” she says and points to the jar of ginger-garlic paste kept next to the burner.

Overlay text in the video jokingly says, “My proud General Alpha’s ‘A spoonful of ginger garlic paste.'”

The caption read, “I wish I had used ‘a spoonful of G&G paste’ in the sentence.”

The video, which has already received over 10.2 million views, has sparked a flurry of reactions in the comments.

One user wrote, “Try telling her, ‘A spoonful of ginger garlic paste.'”

Another person couldn’t believe the ridiculous mistake, saying, “I really hope this is a joke because if it’s true the next generation will be ruined.” To this the creator of the video replied, “Obviously it’s a joke, how can he be so ready with all that stuff.”

The video also caught the attention of one person, who joked, referencing an iconic Colgate advertising slogan, “Maybe toothpaste was for ‘salt’ because ‘Is there salt in your toothpaste?’ ) has just got a whole new meaning.”

Some users pointed to the fact that Gen Alpha’s children are smart and not stupid at all.

One comment said, “Alpha children know everything, they do things on purpose to irritate their mothers.”

Another said, “Good material for the video, but I’m a Gen Alpha mom, they’re much smarter.”

So, even though the ginger-garlic paste may not have arrived in the dish as planned, the comedy that unfolded in a matter of seconds has definitely left an impact on users.
