After much speculation regarding the release date of the much-awaited family thriller Drishyam 3, actor Mohanlal has finally put an end to the rumours. The actor unveiled a new poster confirming the date, reigniting excitement for the much-awaited third chapter of the franchise. Mohanlal has officially announced that Drishyam 3 will release in theaters worldwide on April 2, 2026.

In the newly unveiled poster, Leighton is shown as Georgekutty standing in a banana plantation with a stern, contemplative expression, similar to the iconic image from the first film. Mohanlal shared the announcement and wrote, "years passed. There was no past. #Drishyam3 | Worldwide release | 2 April 2026." The tagline on the poster reads, “The Past Never Stays Silent”, hinting that unresolved events will once again shape the story.

Director Jeethu Joseph returned to lead the project, with production set to begin after a puja ceremony near Kochi in September 2025. Filming took place in Thodupuzha, Vagamon and Ernakulam in Kerala. The director has hinted that the story will pick up again after four and a half years, while also warning audiences not to expect excessive thriller elements. Meanwhile, Asha Sharath has suggested that the climax will surprise.
Apart from Mohanlal, familiar faces including Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Murali Gopi and Siddiqui will also be reprising their roles and are there to ensure continuity as the Georgekutty saga enters its next phase. Further details about the plot are not known yet. However, through the posters we can see the intense emotional depth and edge-of-the-seat suspense that shaped the first chapters will remain at the center of the new installment. The Malayalam film will enjoy a single window as the Hindi adaptation starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role will be released on October 2, 2026.
