On the gossip about age difference with Nick Jonas, Priyanka said, now ‘water will come off the duck’s back’
Actress Priyanka Chopra has responded to people’s curiosity and rumors surrounding her marriage with singer Nick Jonas, sharing her thoughts on their inter-cultural relationship and praising her husband’s honesty.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas knows that the Internet has never stopped talking about her marriage with Nick Jonas. Ever since the two got married in 2018, speculations about their age difference, cultural differences and whirlwind romance started rife. Eight years later, the actress says she has learned to control the noise.
In a recent interview with DiversityChopra addressed the gossip and constant scrutiny about their relationship, admitting that although it once caused deep hurt, she and Jonas decided not to let it define their marriage.
“We’re eight years in. If people want to keep waiting for it to blow up, that’s their choice. I stopped thinking about it. I don’t know what it was about us that rubbed people the wrong way. I think it was the intercultural nature of it – different countries, different religions, age difference. It was very hurtful. And both of us, instead of looking out, just kept looking at each other, and we were like, ‘No way. It doesn’t matter. So it’s like water off a duck’s back now.”
Chopra also reflected on how quickly their relationship progressed, revealing that even she questioned its intensity in the early days. The couple married within six months of meeting, a decision that surprised many people, including her.
“We got married very quickly, within six months of meeting. When I first married him, I didn’t know if it was even true. This part of him. Because I was like this is crazy. This is worn out. But Nick has this absolute honesty. It inspires me every day in a profession that requires you to step up and be whatever you need to be.”
He talked about the qualities that made Jonas stand out from him, especially his consistency and down-to-earth presence. “He’s constantly honest. His whole day, no matter what the conversation is, he’s honest. He started working out when he was really young. His parents are the most amazing, laid-back, complete saints, so I can see where it comes from. But it’s such a disarming quality about him.”
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas got married in Rajasthan in 2018, hosting both Christian and Hindu ceremonies. Chopra was 36 at the time, while Jonas was 26. The couple welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, in January 2022.
On the work front, Chopra has a busy schedule including a Telugu film Varanasiseason two citadel, The Bluff Opposite Karl Urban, and action thriller head of state.
