Akshay Kumar’s latest film, Bhoot Bangla, opened on a promising note. The horror comedy drama directed by Priyadarshan has collected Rs. Took the opening. Earned Rs 11.50 crore at the Indian box office on Friday. There was one more rupee. 3.50 crore nett preview on Thursday, taking total to Rs. 15 crores nett.
Bhoot Bangla is Akshay Kumar’s eighth biggest opener in the post-pandemic era, while Sooryavanshi has retained its top position. Taking into account the all-inclusive opening day, it reached third place. Had it not been for the previews, the film might have made just Rs. Would have collected. Earned Rs 15 crore on Friday; However, in Bollywood there is a rule to report the preview and opening day separately.
Still, for an original film without any franchise/universe padding and a non-holiday release, this is Khiladi Kumar’s biggest opener in the post-pandemic era, even more so when you add previews to it. There was Sky Force, but the less said about it the better.
Akshay Kumar’s volume of releases is such that he can make a top ten list for his films post-pandemic, when most other stars have done 3-4 films, and some have even done 1-2 films. Yes, most of these films did not perform well, but the importance of a large number of releases to survive at the box office cannot be underestimated, especially when the industry is short of films for several weeks of the year.
