Baby Reindeer was a success not only on Netflix but also at this year’s Emmy Awards, as it won the Outstanding Limited Series award. Lead actor, writer, and executive producer Richard Gad accepted the award on behalf of the crew.
He expressed his gratitude for the honor and was joined by the show’s cast and crew as Gad introduced them to the audience. The cast gave an inspirational speech, saying that he believes “no recession can ever be broken without a willingness to take risks.” Gad made sure to point out the importance of “good storytelling” as what makes a project successful on television.
As of this writing, the series has also won prestigious honors for casting, editing, supporting actress (Jessica Gunning who played Martha), writing, and lead actor (Gad who played Donnie).
However, this wasn’t the only inspirational speech he gave to the audience. When he took to the stage to receive his award for writing, Gad recalled how different his journey was a decade ago and how he never thought he would be taking charge of his life.
He explained that he was standing on stage holding one of the biggest awards for writing on television. He explained that he didn’t say this to sound arrogant, but to encourage individuals who are going through difficult times to “persevere.” Gad explained that things don’t last forever and no matter how difficult it is, they will always “get better.”
The artiste asked those who are struggling to move on and promised that things will be fine.
The show’s win was certainly much-awaited by its fans, as it was a huge success upon its launch and quickly became a topic of discussion on the internet. This was mainly because it appears to be inspired by true events that happened in Gad’s life.
Many fans of the show started speculating about the real-life Martha and other characters of the series. It became one of the major discussions on online platforms.
