7 of the top 10 most valuable companies have a makeup of Rs. 1.75 lakh crore decreased; Reliance is the last

Seven of the top 10 most valued companies in the holiday-short last week had a combined market value of Rs. 1.75 lakh crore was reduced.

Last week, the BSE benchmark Sensex lost 949.74 points or 1.27 percent and the NSE Nifty lost 294.9 points or 1.27 percent.

“Markets ended the week on a weak note, reflecting rising volatility amid fluctuating global cues and rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The week was marked by sharp swings, disruptions in energy supplies, a weakening rupee, which hit a record low, “a record rupee and depreciated to a low. SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd. said.

This was followed by a mid-week recovery on hopes of a temporary easing of US-Iran tensions, he noted.

“However, renewed selling pressure on Friday erased the gains, sending the indices lower,” Mishra added.
