5 killed in small plane crash near Austin, Texas

A small plane has crashed near Austin, Texas, killing all five people on board, according to a county official.Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra said in a Facebook post Friday that the incident happened Thursday night in Wimberley, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) southwest of Austin.Becerra confirmed that the aircraft involved was a Cessna 421C and said preliminary information showed it was flying at high speed when it crashed around 11 p.m.“All five people on board were killed,” the official said. He said the identities of the victims have not yet been released as authorities wait to notify their families.He also noted that a second plane operating in the same area landed safely near San Antonio.Becerra said federal agencies have taken over the investigation. “The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified and will lead the investigation into the accident,” he said.
