120 Bahadur, in which Farhan Akhtar plays the role of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati (PVC), is releasing on the big screens this Friday. The military drama recorded sluggish advance bookings across top national series. The film, directed by Rajneesh Razi Ghai, sold more than 7600 tickets on the first day at PVR Inox and Cinepolis. The former series recorded around 6000 admissions, while the latter series could sell approx. 1600 tickets.
As of now, advance bookings are not positive, which means the film will suffer a low opening on the release day. Based on current trends, buzz and pre-bookings, 120 Bahadur will open at Rs. Will be around. 2 Crore to Rs. 4 crore nett.
Although the film is likely to grow over the weekend, it will depend on whether the film is able to impress the audience with its content or not. If it is successful on the content front, the film’s collection may increase immediately. It is worth noting that 120 Bahadur had paid previews on November 18, four days before its release.
For those unaware, 120 Bahadur is based on the Battle of Rezang La (1962), where 120 Indian soldiers fought against a Chinese army contingent of 3000. It is considered one of the most daring battles in Indian defense history.
Produced by Excel Entertainment and Trigger Happy Studios, the military drama will clash with Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani starrer Masti 4 and Vijay Varma’s Gustak Ishq. It will be interesting to see whether the film is able to attract the audience to the theaters or not.
