In an exclusive interview with India Today, director Ranish Ghai talks about the massive effort behind bringing one of the world’s most decisive battles on screen with the upcoming film ‘120 Bahadur’.

Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming war drama ‘120 Bahadur’ is one of the most anticipated films that tells the story of the Battle of Rezang La. Ahead of the grand theatrical release, director Rajneesh Ghai sat down for an exclusive interview with India Today and opened up about the making of one of the biggest battles in history. Ghai details the six-year journey behind his ambitious war drama from research to execution.

Talking about the same, Ghai said, “It is considered one of the 10 most decisive battles in world history. In terms of its depiction and storytelling effort, what actually happened in it? A lot, actually. I spent two years researching the film, two years writing it and two years trying to make it; it’s a six-year job overall. We collected extensive research from the military and surviving members of the battle.”

“You can imagine the scale required to shoot a film like this. We had a team of 600 working Every day in Ladakh with heavy equipment. We weren’t there for two years, but we shot for about four months, of which about 60 days were actual filming. The rest of the time was spent planning and coordinating large-scale action and battle sequences. A war film demands an incredible amount of detail and logistics; A lot has to be done to get it right,” he added.

The cast of ‘120 Bahadur’ is Which includes Farhan Akhtar, Raashi Khanna, Sparsh Walia, Vivaan Bhatena, Dhanveer Singh, Digvijay Pratap, Sahib Verma, Ankit Siwach, Devendra Ahirwar, Ashutosh Shukla, Brijesh Karanwal, Atul Singh, Ajinkya Dev and Ejaz Khan.

The film is directed by Rajneesh “Razi” Ghai and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar and Amit Chandra. This film is going to be released in theaters on November 21.
