Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelinesky said on Wednesday that he and American counterpart Donald Trump had discussed the American ownership of the Russian-Aegered Zaporizia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine.
Trump on Wednesday told Zelancesi that the United States came to the Russian invasion to secure a ceasefire as part of its latest bid, after running and running Ukraine’s nuclear power plants and after Trump, journalists came to his comment.
“We talked about only one power plant, which is in Russian occupation,” Zelanskey, who was on an official visit to Finland, said during an online briefing, referring to the plant in Zaporizhjia.
The power station, Europe’s largest, was occupied by Russian forces in the attack launched in February 2022 and has been a flashpire of concerns over a possible nuclear phenomenon.
Zelansky said it could take more than two years to restart the plant, and that its generation’s ability was needed both Ukrainian and Europe.
“Do we need it? For people, yes, and also for Europe. To join the European electronic network – of course. We can do all this,” he said.
– No ‘pressure’ from Trump –
Since assuming office in January, Trump has demanded a quick solution for a brutal fight of over three years between Russia’s attacker force and Ukrainian.
Zelansky last week supported an American -led resolution for a full and unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine, but Kremlin refused and instead banned attacks on energy infrastructure.
The Ukrainian leader told Finland reporters that Putin was unlikely to agree to any ceasefire, until Ukraine’s soldiers were still fighting for the control of the Russia’s Cursa Region, where Kiev started an adventurous but struggling aggressive last year.
“He doesn’t want a ceasefire while our military is in the area of the Kursk region,” Zelansky said.
Russian armies have been constantly making profit in the Kursk region for weeks, which Kiva hoped that there would be a bargaining chip in the conversation with Moscow.
The Trump administration’s rapid association with Russian officials, a sharp departure from the previous administration’s point of view, feared Ukraine that it may be forced to give unpopular concessions, such as Russia in Russia’s territory.
But Zelansky told reporters that Trump had not put any pressure on the Kiev to meet the Kremlin’s demands.
He said, “I want to be very clearly Frank. Today I did not feel any pressure from Trump. And this is a fact. You know that I am an open person. If it was, I would have clearly told you,” he said.
A few weeks after a shocking deadlock between the two leaders at the White House comes their comments, which ended in the Ukrainian delegation, including Zelancesi, overtook the schedule.
– ‘I am not going to tell you’ –
During briefing with reporters, Zelansky said he spoke with Emmanuel Macron on a daily basis when the French leader called him unexpectedly during the press conference.
After receiving telephone calls during briefing, Zelansky said, “Yes, I have spoken to Emmanuel to President Macron.” “We often talk a lot. Once a day. After our conversation, I will call him back.”
Zelansky also announced that he would visit France next week, without expansion.
The Ukrainian leader has urged his Western colleagues to assist even in a ceasefire situation, and on Wednesday announced that his country recently got “many” more F -16 fighter jets.
“I am not going to tell you how many,” Zelansky told reporters, without saying which country gave them. Ukraine achieved its first delivery of the US-made aircraft last year.
