Introduction

The new Xiaomi 14T duo has finally been unveiled and we are in for a treat with a new generation of Leica-boosted photography, flagship-grade performance, Dolby Vision OLEDs, and more. Today we are going to talk about the Xiaomi 14T Pro model, which is a worthy successor to the 13T Pro.

Xiaomi 14T Pro review

When thinking of Xiaomi’s top-tier phones, the first thing that comes to mind is Leica photography, but that’s not the only feature of the 14T Pro. The new model has a signature curved glass back with a metal-like colorway that matches its metal frame. Like the previous model, it is also IP68 rated.

Then there’s the 6.67-inch CrystalRace AMOLED display, which looks similar to the 13T Pro – 1220p, 144Hz, 12-bit colour depth, Dolby Vision. However, it has a higher peak brightness this year – up to 4,000 nits.

The chipset has now grown from the Dimensity 9200+ to the 9300+, bringing a faster processor with new cores and more powerful graphics with more 3D features.

And, of course, the triple Leica camera is back on the back with a 50MP primary with a new sensor and lens, a 50MP 2.6x telephoto (long zoom), and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The front camera has now grown from 20MP to 32MP.

Like the previous 13T Pro, it also has a 5,000mAh battery that supports fast wired charging up to 120W. But this time, the phone also supports wireless charging up to 50W.

The Xiaomi 14T Pro has the latest version of Android and HyperOS, it also has Google Gemini and various AI tricks available.

Xiaomi 14T Pro specifications at a glance:

  • Body: 160.4×75.1×8.4mm, 209 grams; Glass front, aluminium frame; IP68 dust/water resistant (up to 2 metres for 30 minutes).

  • OS/Software: Android 14, HyperOS.
  • rear camera: Wide (main): 50 MP, f/1.6, 23mm, 1/1.31″, 1.2µm, PDAF, OIS; Telephoto: 50 MP, f/2.0, 60mm, 1/2.88″, 0.61µm, PDAF, 2.6x optical zoom; Ultra Wide Angle: 12 MP, f/2.2, 15mm, 1/3.06″, 1.12µm.
  • Front Camera: 32 MP, f/2.0, 25mm (wide).
  • video capture: rear camera: 8K@24/30fps, 4K@24/30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/120/240/960fps, Gyro-EIS, 10-bit Rec. 2020; Front Camera: 1080p@30fps.
  • Battery: 5000mAh; 120W wired, PD3.0, QC4, 100% in 19 mins (advertised), 50W wireless, 100% in 45 mins (advertised).
  • Connectivity: 5G; Dual SIM; Wi-Fi 7; BT 5.4, LHDC; NFC; Infrared port.
  • various: Fingerprint reader (under the display, optical); Stereo speakers; Circle for search.

The Xiaomi 14T Pro seems to have it all, at least on paper. Sure, we would have liked a regular selfie camera with autofocus instead of a quad-Bayer sensor, but it is what it is.

Xiaomi 14T Pro Unboxing

The Xiaomi 14T Pro comes in a suspiciously thinner box than usual, although it’s not as thin as an iPhone or Galaxy box which suggests there’s no charger inside.

Unfortunately, we were surprised to see that there is no charger in the EU box. There is a large paper compartment containing the dark gray silicone case and the USB-AC cable. The phone is then placed on a thick paper bed.

Xiaomi 14T Pro Review

If you want to use the 120W wired or 50W wireless HyperCharge, you will need to purchase additional accessories. Xiaomi has quietly ushered its smartphones into the no-charger-in-the-box era.

The positive thing is that the phone comes with a protective foil already applied to the screen.
