World Bank employees mourn the death of the colleague, share messages to all

An Indian -origin economist at the World Bank paid tribute to his late ally, sharing a message that our life was “much more than being busy.” Somya Bajaj, in a LinkedIn Post, reflected on the sudden death of a colleague Anne, which was an important appearance in her office, yet died alone and no one paid attention for days.

The native of Kolkata described Anne more than just one familiar face at work – he was the “social connector” of his office floor. He planned events, encouraged accidental conversations, and created a warm experience of working from the office.

“She started a water cooler conversation and was a go-two for many people. She was my post-lunch friend, we often met in the washroom, while she brushed her teeth. There is hardly any other colleague, about whom she had brushed her teeth. I know such small things, but Anne was special, “Ms. Bajaj wrote on LinkedIn.

Anne, Ms. Bajaj said, she was known for her accountability – she responded to emails and messages within minutes or hours. She was one of the few people who used to come to the office every day. So when he suddenly stopped responding, something felt “Ames.”

As the days passed without hearing Anne’s hearing, his team became worried. He sent people to investigate it, but there was no response. Eventually, the police were called to enter his house, where they met with “the most heartbreaking vision”.

Ms. Bajaj wrote, “We still do not know when Anne may die or how long he lay on the floor, all alone,”

Ms. Bajaj’s post also talked about the separation that often comes with modern work life. While colleagues spend longer together, true social relations can be rare.

“We spend eight different hours at work for most of our adults, and for many, this could be their only social interaction,” he reflected, “when we don’t respond to messages or calls, So our loved ones and acquaintances have written it, thinking that we can get busy than being busy, ”he said.

He urged people not to take silence as a default “busy” response and check beyond normal virtual meetings.

He finished his post with an emotional farewell: “It has been a very expensive reminder on our floor, and of course for me. We miss you Anne, and regret that we were not for you before. ,

Last year, a 60 -year -old Wells Fargo employee was found to be dead on his desk when he was seen entering his office. He entered the office on 16 August, but his body was not discovered till 20 August, when a colleague found him walking through the building. Despite the smell of a noticeable dishonesty in the office, colleagues believed that it was a plumbing issue.
