Artificial Intelligence (AI) company Anthropic has announced that it is especially making custom AI equipment for the American military and intelligence community. These devices, under the name “Cloud Gove”, are already being used by some top American national security agencies. Anthropic explains in its official blog post that the Cloud Gove model is designed to assist with several functions including intelligence analysis, danger detection, strategic plan and operational support. According to anthropic, these models have been developed from national security agencies based on direct input and sewn to meet the specific requirements of the classified environment.
“We are offering a custom set of the cloud village model specially created for American national security customers,” the company said. “Access to these models is limited to those who work in such classified environment.”
Anthropic claims that Claude village has conducted the same security check as its regular AI model, but has added capabilities. These include better handling of classified materials, better understanding of intelligence and rescue-related documents, significant language for global operation and deep insight into bid skills and cyber security data.
While the company has not disclosed which agencies are currently using cloud village, insisting that all deployment are within the high -class environment, and the models are strictly limited to national security use. Anthropic also reiterated its “safety and unwavering commitment for responsible AI development”.
The growing trend of tech companies making advanced AI tools to protect from the move of anthropic has been highlighted.
Earlier this year, Openai introduced the Chatgpt Gov, a sewn version of the chatgpt, especially created for the US government. Chatgpt gov tools run within the Azure cloud of Microsoft, which gives full control to the agencies how it is deployed and managed. The Gov model shares several features with Chatgpt Enterprise, but it emphasized the meeting on data privacy, oversight and government standards for AI use.
Apart from anthropic and openi, Meta is also working with the US government to offer its technology for military wearbals.
Last month, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed a partnership with Enduril Industries established by Okulus Creator Palmer Lucky to develop a promotion and virtual reality gear for the US Army. Both companies are working on a project called Igley, aimed at creating a complete ecosystem of wearers including helmets and smart glasses that provide better battlefield awareness to soldiers. Enduril has stated that these wearable systems will allow soldiers to control autonomous drones and robots using comfortable, AR-driven interfaces.
“Meta has spent the last decade to build AI and AR to enable future computing platforms,” Zuckerberg said. “We are proud to partner with Anduril to help bring these techniques to American service members who protect our interests at home and abroad.”
Together, these development points to a large innings in the US defense industry, where traditional military equipment is being combined with advanced AI and wearable technology.
