The Ocean’s duo, Brad Pitt and George Clooney, were widely praised at the Venice Film Festival where the film first premiered. One of the most anticipated films of this year is directed by Jon Watts, who is also known for directing The Spider-Man trilogy starring Tom Holland. In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the filmmaker revealed how he came up with the idea of ​​reuniting the two veteran actors on screen with the crime-comedy genre.
Explaining how Watts signed the actors for the film, the director further said that it all started in New York, where he got the inspiration to write the film. “It was stupid of me. I wrote the film; I could have written it anywhere. I could have written it any time of the year. I chose New York at night,” Watts told the media portal.
The director added, “I live here, I love New York, and I’ve been shooting Spider-Man movies in Atlanta for the last seven years, which should have been in New York.”
Meanwhile, Watt revealed that both Pitt and Clooney were looking for a project to work on at the time. Both of them read the script and loved Watt’s idea. “It’s one of those ideas that doesn’t really work unless it’s both of them. That’s where the idea came from,” the filmmaker revealed. He added, “But the big difference is that you don’t often get a chance to pitch something like that to those two people.”

In the film, Pitt and Clooney play fixers who are called to the same address by Amy Ryan to cover up a crime. However, despite not liking each other’s ways of handling the job, the two are forced to work together to get the job done.
According to the film’s synopsis, “A fixer hired to cover a high-profile crime soon finds his nights are spinning out of control when he’s forced to work with an unexpected counterpart.”
The cast of Wolves also includes Brad Pitt and George Clooney, along with Amy Ryan, Poorna Jagannathan and Austin Abrams. The film will be available to watch in select theaters on September 20 and on Apple TV+ shortly after.
