Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Wanga has shared insight into its casting options for the 2023 film Animal, as explained why he selected Ranbir Kapoor over Shahid Kapoor. In an interview recently, Vanga revealed that while Shahid gave an extraordinary performance in Kabir Singh, he wanted to detect a different dimension with Ranbir for the animal.

In an interview with Game changer podcastSandeep Reddy Wanga said that Shahid’s name did not come to him. Given that the animal was an emotional story, Ranbir’s name killed him. He said that it was “organic” because Ranbir would fit right for the role.

During the same interview, Sandeep Reddy Wanga praised Shahid and recalled his experience of working with him in Kabir Singh. He said, “Faith was already because Shahid was very interested in remake. Since it is a remake, there was less discussion.”

He explained, “When the camera was shifting, I told Shahid that the scene was removed and we had an hour. I explained the scene and mentioned the good sunshine, suggesting that we shoot it. He agreed, ‘Okay.’ I told him in mind and dialogue, which was not even on paper. “

Sandeep continued, “We discussed it and completed the scene in 90 minutes. It was not in the original script, and we did not plan to shoot it, but when the light was transferred, I asked how much time it would take. He said an hour, so I said, ‘Shahid, why do you waste an hour? Let’s shoot it.’ When I realized that an actor should not remake like Shahid – he is such an original actor.
