Authorities found Jean Hackman and his wife Batsi Arakawa dead in their Santa FE, New Mexico on 26 February. The authorities discovered Betasi while lying on the bathroom floor near a space heater, while Hackman was in Madum.
His body showed significant decomposition, and his dog was also found dead in the house. Investigators denied carbon monoxide poisoning, but have not yet determined the exact cause of death.

Forensic pathologist Dr. Judy Melinenek said that investigators rely on visual conclusions and circumstantial evidence to estimate the time of death.
He said that the last time individuals were seen alive, when they were found to be dead, and when their mail was started to stack, they can provide important clues.
He also mentioned that the initial signs of death, such as rigid mortis and changes in body temperature, can help establish a timeline, but these markers become incredible because decomposition progresses.
Dr. Gill also stated that environmental conditions can affect decomposition. “Generally, the dry environment will cause more rapid mammification than a non-dry environment,” he said.
The presence of a space heater near Batesi may have accelerated the decomposition of her body. Investigators will also consider factors such as fabrics, air circulation and sun exposure in various rooms of the house.
Officials are still working to determine the cause of death for Jean Hackman and his wife Batsi Arkawa. Their body was in an advanced position of decomposition that forensic experts faced challenges in highlighting the details.
Investigators are looking at evidence such as digital activity, mail collection and phone records, which are meant to connect the last days of the couple together.
Their deaths may take time to confirm in accurate circumstances, but experts believe that mammakaran has made the process quite complicated.
