Actor Keerthy Suresh claimed that CM Vijay’s birthday felt remarkably different this year.

For over a decade, June 22 was not just a birthday celebration for Vijay fans. It was also a day of anticipation – a time when first looks, teasers, trailers or announcements of their upcoming films became part of the annual ritual. While wishing actor-turned-Chief Minister Vijay a happy birthday, actor Keerthy Suresh, in his birthday post, explained why his birthday felt different this year.

Actor-politician C Joseph Vijay turned 52 on June 22, which is his first birthday after taking charge as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. While wishes have been pouring in from actors, politicians and fans, actor Keerthy Suresh’s message came to highlight the change in Vijay’s journey – from a film star unveiling the new teaser and trailer of his upcoming film to a politician stepping into public life.

Sharing a photo with Vijay on Instagram, Kirti recalled how their birthdays were traditionally associated with cinema updates. He wrote, “For years, your birthday meant waiting for the first look, a teaser, a trailer, or the announcement of a new movie. It became a ritual we all looked forward to.”

“It feels different this year,” he said, adding that no new characters are being introduced to the audience. Instead, she said, Vijay was starting “a new chapter of service and responsibility”.

Keerthi’s message read, “For the first time in over a decade, there is no new character being introduced to the world. Instead, we are seeing something much more significant. You are reintroducing yourself not as a hero on screen, but as a leader stepping into a new chapter of service and responsibility.”

He concluded his note by wishing a “Thalapathy who lives forever in the hearts of people”, noting the huge sentiment surrounding Vijay’s first birthday in office.

About Vijay’s political journey

Vijay’s political journey began in February 2024, when he announced his decision to enter electoral politics and launched Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). He later held his first public rally in October 2024 and traveled across Tamil Nadu to connect with voters ahead of the 2026 assembly elections.

His transformation puts him in the league of actor-turned-politicians like MGR, NTR and Jayalalitha, who successfully moved from cinema to governance.

Contrary to the usual political path, Vijay chose to contest the elections without forming an alliance with major parties before the elections. His party secured a significant number of seats in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, helping him form the government with the support of his coalition partners.

Meanwhile, the actor’s last film, Jan NayganIs also linked to this infection. The film, scheduled for release in January, was delayed due to pending certification issues and later faced controversy after being leaked online.
