Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh recently shared a funny incident from his dating days in 2007 when he was dating an actress. Yuvraj, who is now happily married to Hazel Keech, revealed that during one of his trips, he had to wear his girlfriend’s pink slip-ons as his shoes got packed in the luggage. “I had to wear those pink slip-ons. She followed me to Canberra in the bus,” he added.
During a candid chat on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, Yuvraj Singh shared a memorable and amusing incident from India’s 2007-08 tour of Australia. At the time, Yuvraj was dating a popular actress who is still a prominent figure in the film industry today. She was in Australia for a film shoot and despite his request due to the pressure of his poor performance during the series, she accompanied him to Canberra during the tour.
The cricketer said that he was going through a stressful phase in his career as his performance in the series did not go well. Wanting to focus on his game, he politely asked her to stay away for some time. But she surprised him by coming to Canberra, where she was determined to spend time with him. Amid the mounting pressure of the series, the two had a late-night conversation during which Yuvraj stressed on the need for them to focus on their respective careers.
There was a funny twist in the story when Yuvraj revealed that the next morning he realised that his shoes were packed in the suitcase just minutes before he boarded the team bus. When he was without shoes, his actress girlfriend suggested him to wear her pink slip-ons. With no other option, Yuvraj wore them and tried to hide his feet with his bag while boarding the bus.
He added, “I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I had to wear those pink slip-ons, and I was carrying my bag in front of them to hide my shoes. People saw that, and they clapped for me. I had to wear pink slip-ons at the airport until I bought flip-flops from there.”
Yuvraj Singh has been romantically linked to several actresses during his career, including Kim Sharma, Riya Sen, and Deepika Padukone. In 2016, he married Hazel Keech, and the couple now share the joy of being parents with two children.
