The Samsung Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 will be available starting April 9 or 10 with a starting price of $550 / €530 / ₹63,000 and $450 / €430 / ₹57,000 respectively (this varies slightly by country). Note that during the pre-order period, Samsung offers a free storage upgrade in some regions. How does that sound to you?
Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy A57 has a thinner and lighter frame (6.9 mm, 179 g vs 7.4 mm, 198 g) with better water resistance (IP68 vs IP67). And it has a new chipset, the Exynos 1680, which replaces the 1580. The bezels around the 6.7” 120Hz 1080p+ display are thinner (the phone is 0.7mm shorter and narrower), but the display otherwise looks identical.

The Galaxy A57 is thinner and lighter than its predecessor
The Galaxy A37 shares a lot with the A36. It still uses a plastic frame with the same thickness and weight (7.4 mm, 196 g), although it has also received an IP68 rating. And that’s all.

We’d argue that these are the kind of phones you get with a discount from your carrier and a (usually) 2-year contract – so we should probably compare them to the Galaxy A55 and A35. Looking at things this way, the list of improvements is long – the display is larger (0.1”) and brighter, the battery has 45W fast charging (up from 25W) and both phones are thinner and lighter than their 2024 counterparts.
However, still, for that kind of cash you can have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (OnePlus 15R) or the Snapdragon 8 Elite (Poco F8 Pro). And if you like Exynos or if you prefer One UI, there’s always the Galaxy S25 FE.
With that in mind, should you buy the Samsung Galaxy A57?
What about the Galaxy A37 – it’s cheaper than the A57, but it’s not as improved, so is it a better or worse deal?
