A Polish man with terminal cancer chose to spend his last day to celebrate life with his loved ones instead of mourning his illness. Instead of a traditional memorial meeting after his death, he hosted a farewell party. His daughter, Bibi Bruzoza, documented the emotional incident, shared a video that has become viral since then.
In Poland, it is customary to capture a gathering called “Stipa” after the funeral to honor the dead. Ms. Bruzoza’s father challenged the tradition, assuming that the loved ones were very understandable to come together when he would not be there to share memories. Therefore, he did something different – he threw himself a goodbye party.
“His idea was to leave the post funeral ceremonies where he would not be present anyway,” Ms. Brozozka said.
Ms. Bruzoza called her father “legend” for her decision. “Here, you are dying that you are dying is often seen as leaving,” he wrote. “But my father was not interested in a gathering where he would not be present – so he decided to do a pre -Staypa instead.”
Conducted in a beautiful rented site, the farewell party welcomed 50 close friends and family members, which were organized by all the old people. Music, poetry, food, drinks, and even Ms. Bruzoza had a special presentation prepared by the father of Bruzoza, which was filled with nutritional memories and decents about all in the room.
In now-viral video, Ms. Bruzozka describes the emotional height and climb of the evening. “To the end, there were dance and more tears,” he said. “I feel proud of a father who is very courageous and unconventional. I am very grateful that we had to celebrate this moment and appreciate him.”
