If you can never decide whether to spend your time eating delicious food at a fancy restaurant or watching a show, head straight to Kichi Kichi Omurice. This tiny restaurant in Kyoto, Japan has made a name for itself in both aspects. Imagine a place of delicious food coming in front of you, but before you are allowed to take the first bite, the chef puts on a little show and goes through an elaborate process of presenting and garnishing the dish. After that, it is ready for you to eat. Kichi Kichi Omurice in Kyoto does exactly that.

Chef Motokichi Yukimura, who has become a social media sensation and is now called “Japan’s most famous omurice chef”, has once again showcased his skills. Recently, cinematographer Jerry Hudgens visited the popular eatery-cum-tourist spot in Japan and experienced it himself. He also shared a clip of the entire show while the famous omurice was being served. The dish usually consists of a fluffy omelette topped with a layer of delicious sweet chicken fried rice.

His caption read, “Had the most delicious omelettes (omurasis) in Kyoto and the experience was too wonderful to share.”

In the video, we see a plate with a big piece of rice placed on the table and the chef unwrapping it. Chef Motokichi Yukimura then brings out a frying pan with a fluffy, oval-shaped omelette. He shakes it a bit and asks the customer to touch it so he can check its fluffy texture. Then, he shakes it some more until the omelette reaches the edge of the pan. Then, with extreme precision and patience, he places it perfectly on the bed of rice using a pair of chopsticks.

Then, he takes out a sharp knife and cuts the omelet from the edge to the bottom to reveal a sticky, semi-liquid inside. It falls perfectly onto the rice and covers it completely while it sizzles. The chef then adds a spoonful of sauce, followed by a pinch of herbs to garnish.

Finally, he picks up the plate and takes a close-up of the delicious dish in front of the camera.
