Anupam Kher shared an inspiring story from his childhood days in Shimla during a motivational session at IFFI Goa 2024. The veteran actor talked about the importance of celebrating failures in life, as taught by his father.
Actor Anupam Kher shared an inspiring story from his younger days at the 50th International Film Festival of India in Goa. The veteran actor recalled his days in Shimla, where he lived with his parents and brother for a few years while growing up. While attending a special session at IFFI Goa on Saturday, November 23, Kher talked about dealing with failures.
The popular actor recalled an interesting incident where his father explained him the importance of celebrating failures in life. He told the audience that when he came to know about his failure in the board exams, his father took him to an expensive restaurant in the city for food and coffee.
“We used to go to this restaurant called Alfa. It was very popular, and we used to go there only once or twice to mark a special day. I remember giving my 10th class exams,” Kher said. And I was promoted to class 11.” Because at that time, the school did not wait for the results and if you did not pass later, they would transfer you back to class 10th, so, my father came to the school once and surprised me I was thinking Then he ordered his regular coffee and food for both of us, we ate, and then I asked him what was special that day and he told me that he had seen my results, and I was in my exam. I was shocked to have failed. But, then he said that he wants to celebrate my failures the same way he celebrates my achievements, so that there is no fear of losing me in the future.
The 60-year-old also spoke about staying strong in the face of adversity and how his upbringing helped him deal with all such difficult situations in life. Kher mentioned the time when he had almost left Mumbai during the days of struggle. He said he read a letter that his grandfather sent him which mentioned “The wet man is not from the rain but from the data. (He who is already wet has no fear of rain)” and this inspired him to stay there.
Kher was recently seen in the Netflix film Vijay 69, which was based on the idea of being determined no matter what age you decide to start over.
