Vivo recently unveiled the X Fold6 in China and also introduced a new set of premium wireless buds. The Vivo TWS 5 Pro Buds look pretty simple on the surface, but actually offer some premium features.
The earbuds feature a dual-driver acoustic setup consisting of a custom ultra-miniature balanced armature co-developed by Vivo and Knowles, paired with a self-developed dual-ring dynamic driver. Both drivers are arranged in a coaxial acoustic architecture, which aligns the acoustic centers of high and low frequencies for better coherence. According to Vivo, the design offers a frequency response ranging from 16Hz to 60kHz.
Some audio highlights include a custom Hi-Fi DAC developed in partnership with Cirrus Logic, offering 113db of dynamic range. Native 96kHz/24-bit audio playback and up to 4.6Mbps lossless transmission over Wi-Fi. It has support for LE audio technology, ISOC architecture, and the LC3 codec, which reduces latency to 42ms, making the buds great for gaming.
Vivo TWS 5 Pro
The buds feature Deep C Smart Noise Cancellation 2.0 and a four-microphone array with noise cancellation bandwidth of up to 60db and 5,500Hz, 99.9% lifestyle noise suppression, and Adaptive Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode. There are dedicated ANC profiles for airplanes, subways, and buses, a sleep assist mode, and an immersion mode. There’s also a VPU bone conduction microphone for voice calls, which delivers up to 100dB of environmental call noise reduction and up to 99% wind noise reduction.
The TWS 5 Pro supports up to three simultaneous connections, features pressure-sensitive touch controls with support for customizable gestures including playback controls, call handling, noise cancellation mode switching, and slide-based volume adjustments. They also have an IP54 ingress protection rating.
TWS 5 Pro has wireless charging and fast charging support. Vivo says they can get up to two hours of playback from a 5-minute charge. They are rated for up to 5 hours of playback in Wi-Fi mode and 11 hours in AAC Bluetooth mode (total 50 hours including charging case battery).
