A few days ago, a woman from Bangalore highlighted examples of different pricing of zepto products for Android and iPhone users. His post went viral and online discussion broke out. For example, according to that post, half a kilo of grapes on the Android device were listed for Rs 65, while the same product on the iPhone was priced at Rs 146. He also compared the prices of capsicum, cauliflower and onion, highlighting the difference in rates on the app (read the whole story here).
Recently, another post has alleged that Zepto is charging different prices for the same product from Android and iPhone users. Vinita Singh resorted to LinkedIn to mark it. He posted screenshots showing a list of green capsicum on Zapto on two different devices. Android phone clearly saw the price of Rs 21 for 500-600 grams, while the iPhone showed Rs 107 for the same product and weight. In the caption, the user wrote, “Both screenshots were taken at the same time this morning. But why the difference, Zepto?” See the full post here. Take a look at the screenshot below:

This post has also attracted attention to other social media platforms. Here is told how people reacted on LinkedIn:
“They also need money to buy an iPhone. So.”
“Now I think all of us should only buy Android devices for buying grocery goods, booking cabs etc.”.
“Almost all quick commerce platforms are facing similar issues. This is something that is very worrying because these days we all have a lot of dependence on these applications. There can be no explanation of this inequality.”
“When you order from the iPhone, they deliver the capsicum 1 minute in advance. That’s why it is expensive.”
“I have a question – whether both screenshots are taken from the same account? Because the price is the same, only the discount provided is different. If the accounts are different then the difference is not only due to Android and iPhone.”
NDTV has approached Zepto for comments but has not yet responded.
