A recent video showing candles resembling crispy dosas along with bowls of sambar and chutney went viral on Instagram. In the reel shared by ‘HouseofDrip._’, we get a glimpse of the candle artist’s process of creating these food-themed delights. The hardest part, the artist said, was creating the dosa element without a mould. He explained that he had to find a special mixture of different types of wax that would enable him to bend the shape of the dosa. In the video, we see him spreading this wax mixture on a flat surface marked with different circular sizes in centimeters. Later, she folds it upon itself to get a semi-circular shape. She uses the non-pointed end of a toothpick to make indents and holes in the shape of the dosa, making it look more realistic. They shaded it using brown, yellow and orange candle colors, making it look crisp and well-seasoned. On the outside of the inside of the dosa, he spread orange wax to make it look like a layer of chutney. He also made a classic aloo (potato) masala with beeswax and stuffed it into a dosa shape.

Not only this. He also created favorite dosa side dishes using wax: sambar, white coconut chutney and spicy tomato chutney. She managed to give each a different texture. For the sambar bowl, he prepared a slaw of drumsticks and chillies using wax and garnished the dish with greens and mustard seeds. To make it look more realistic he gave it a special glaze.
