Officials from the health department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) recently visited a restaurant following a worrying complaint. A customer had alleged that he found a dead rat in the sambar served at Devi Dosa Palace. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media, leading to widespread concern and demands for action. According to reports, the restaurant did not take any action even after the customer informed them about the serious food safety issue. Following this, AMC officials intervened and sealed the restaurant. Reports reveal that a notice has been issued to the owner Alpesh Kevadia regarding lack of hygiene and cleanliness.

Bhavin Joshi, Food Safety Officer of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has commented on the incident. Speaking to ANI, he said, “I appeal to all business operators of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to be very careful about the food they serve to customers, so that such incidents can be avoided.”

In another recent incident, a viral video of a dead mouse found inside a supposedly sealed bottle of Hershey’s chocolate syrup made rounds on the internet. Following a police complaint and investigation, FSSAI took action. The food authority told ANI, “A team from FSSAI’s western region office has inspected the premises of the ice cream manufacturer and its licence has been suspended.”
