As wildfires continue to rage across Los Angeles, a terrifying video has captured the plight of two people trapped in the inferno. The haunting clip, shared on X by Minnesota storm chaser Tanner Charles, shows him and his friend Orly Israel inside a home in Pacific Palisades that caught fire. Mr Charles shared the video on Twitter on Wednesday. according to new York TimesThe day began with a mandatory evacuation order for Mr. Israel and his family. He returned home with Mr. Charles that evening to pack the cars and other valuables. However, as they saw the fire getting closer, they decided to protect the house and walked through “thick and black smoke” that limited their visibility to several feet.

Both of them extinguished the fire on the spot and took the flammable furniture inside. But the intense heat and rising flames pushed them back. “His entire backyard was basically on fire,” Mr. Charles told the outlet. He said, “I stood there and it felt like it was over. We can’t fight this.”
Despite his efforts, things quickly got out of control. Mr Charles later shared before and after photos of Mr Israel’s home. “We tried our best,” he wrote.

Specifically, there are five fires still burning in LA. Thousands of structures, including homes, commercial buildings, and vehicles, were damaged or destroyed. About 180,000 people have been ordered to evacuate due to the wildfire. Another 200,000 residents have been warned to evacuate.
Insured losses from this week’s fires could exceed $20 billion, and total economic losses could reach $50 billion, according to estimates published by JPMorgan on Thursday.
