Actor Ashwin Dhar is getting praise for his portrayal of gangster Arshad Pappu. Dhurandhar: Revenge. He is now trending online after fans compared his look to Shah Rukh Khan’s 2025 Met Gala appearance, with one reacting to the memes calling it a “pleasant surprise”.
in an interview with HT CityThe actor said, “He was really a pleasant surprise and there were some memes saying that Aditya Dhar should have cast Shah Rukh Khan in this role. It was quite a surprise for me and it felt great to be compared to Shah Rukh, although it was about the costumes and the look and everything.”

Ashwin shared that he first saw the memes through his team and initially treated them with humor. “My team sent it to me. In the beginning, we were just laughing and enjoying the whole thing and then it started going viral. There wasn’t just one meme. A lot of people made comparisons between Shah Rukh Khan and me as Arshad Pappu. It was really a cool thing to happen. Shah Rukh Khan is an actor and the person he is, I love being with him in a frame, even if it’s a meme.”
While the two actors have not worked together yet, Ashwin hoped to meet the superstar soon. He said, “I hope I meet him soon. When I meet Shahrukh, we will talk about this meme. This could be a good start, an ice breaker.”
The actor also talked about his co-star Akshaye Khanna, who played Arshad Pappu’s onscreen rival Rehman the dacoit. Despite their characters being central to the film’s conflict, the two actors did not share screen space. Ashwin Dhar revealed that he never actually met Khanna and saw him only once on the sets, as they had no scenes together.
He told that the film revolves around two rival gangs in Lyari – Rehman Dacoit and Arshad Pappu – Their lack of shared scenes meant there was no interaction between them. He further said that from what he saw, Khanna kept to himself, appeared calm and deeply focused and was widely considered a thoughtful actor. Dhar also said that Khanna came across as a warm and kind person who welcomed everyone on the set.
