A US Navy MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter made an emergency water landing in the Arabian Sea on Tuesday, with one crew member still missing as search operations continue, US Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) said.In a statement posted on Twitter, NAVCENT said the incident occurred at 3:30 a.m. ET on July 1, when the helicopter assigned to the USS George HW Bush (CVN 77) was forced to make an emergency landing at sea.“There is no indication that the emergency was caused by hostile action,” the command said, amid heightened regional tensions following the recent US-Iran conflict.Three of the helicopter’s four crew members have been rescued and are in stable condition aboard the USS George HW Bush, according to NAVCENT. The US Navy deployed in the area is continuing the search for the fourth crew member, who is missing. The reasons for the incident are being investigated. The emergency comes days after a fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran helped ease fears of a wider regional conflict. The ceasefire led to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a decline in global oil prices, providing temporary relief to energy markets. However, analysts cited by Reuters warned that the ceasefire could be tactical rather than permanent. Long-running disputes over Iran’s nuclear program, regional influence and US sanctions remain unresolved, despite both sides agreeing to hold talks over the next 60 days. Although markets have responded positively for now, uncertainty remains over the durability of the ceasefire.
