Gujarati cinema has so far welcomed six films in 2025. The year starts with films like Victor 303, Kasi Raghav and Maa Tan Nai Samjay in the first week of January. This was followed by Taro Thayo and Malik Ni Warta in the second week of the month. Released on January 24, 2025, Umbaro is the latest addition to the Gujarati box office run of movies.

Umbaro maintains strong hold at Gujarati box office

Directed by Abhishek Shah of Hellaro fame, Umbro is scoring well at the box office in Gujarat. With their strong word-of-mouth, the Vandana Pathak and Kajal Oja Vaidya-starrer has become the talk of the town among cinephiles. The female-driven comedy film had a modest opening at the box office and is expected to become a successful regional film in Gollywood.

Umbaro outperforms Taro Thayo and Maa Tan Nai Samjay

Within four days of its release, Umbaro has outperformed its rivals, Taro Thayo and Maa Thane Nai Samjay. The comedy film follows the story of seven women from Gujarat as they navigate their first international trip to London.

Umbro’s ensemble cast also includes Sukita Trivedi, Dekh Joshi, Tarjani Bhadla, Tejal Panchasara, Vineeta Joshi, Arjav Trivedi and Sanjay Gelsar. The trailer of the film was released on YouTube on January 13, 2025.

Meanwhile, Taro Thayo hits theaters on January 17, 2025. It featured Gujarati actors Hiten Kumar and Kajal Oja Vaidya in lead roles. Maa Tan Nai Samjay, which hit the screens on January 10, stars actress Rashami Desai and actor Amar Upadhyay as the leads.
