Meet Daisy, the latest creation from UK telecoms company O2. But Daisy is not your typical loving grandmother. She’s an AI-powered scammer designed to keep fraudsters on the phone for as long as possible, chatting about her imaginary knitting projects or fake family drama. His mission? To stop scammers from wasting time and to save genuine people from becoming victims of fraud.

Daisy is part of O2’s “Swerve the Scammers” campaign, a creative effort to fight against the rising wave of scam calls. Daisy is no ordinary chatbot – she’s a highly advanced AI designed to have lively, human-like conversations. She listens, processes and responds in real time, tricking fraudsters into believing they’re talking to a real person. To further reassure Daisy, O2 collaborated with Jim Browning, a renowned YouTube scammer, who helped train her with some of the most effective strategies.

Why was Daisy created? Research shows that 7 out of 10 Britons want to get revenge on scammers, but more than half don’t want to waste their time. This is where Daisy steps in. She is hard at work, answering suspicious calls and keeping fraudsters busy for 40 minutes at a time. By doing this, DAISY not only frustrates scammers but also prevents them from targeting genuine victims.

Daisy isn’t just about wasting scammers’ time – she’s also helping to educate the public. Reality TV star Amy Hart, who lost £5,000 in a scam, teamed up with Daisy to raise awareness. Together, they have exposed common scam tactics, showing people how to recognize and avoid these threats.

Meanwhile, O2 is blocking millions of scam calls and texts every month and encouraging people to report suspicious activity by forwarding messages to the free service 7726. The company is also pushing for major changes such as a dedicated fraud minister and a national task force to tackle large-scale scams.
