Two cases of HMPV reported in Tamil Nadu, total cases in India rise to 7
Seven cases of human metapneumovirus (HMPV) have been found in India, two each in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and one in Gujarat. All cases are in children. This virus causes mild cold-like symptoms and has been present globally for years. The government is monitoring the situation and advising to take precautions but there is no need to panic.
