Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor starrer Tu Ya Main is struggling at the box office. The creature/horror survival thriller witnessed a 35 percent decline on its first Monday compared to Friday and collected Rs. There was an increase of. 40 lakhs to tally. This makes its 4 day fee Rs. Earning 3.25 crores at Indian box office.
Although Monday’s decline was normal, the number is very small. Such films with no star value depend heavily on word of mouth promotion and audience support, which it doesn’t get, which is why the survival thriller is headed for a disappointing theatrical run. Apart from this, the Adarsh Gourav film also has a remake tag, which is probably one of the reasons why the audience is not very excited.
Moreover, the 8-week OTT window is killing the business of such small/medium sized films as they do not get a chance to run for a long time in theatres. Audiences also have the patience to wait for 2 months for a movie on digital screens. Producers need to break this patience by extending the OTT window to about 6 months.
The box office collection of Tu Ya Main is as follows:
| Day | box office |
| 1 | Rupee. 60 lakhs |
| 2 | Rupee. 1.50 crore |
| 3 | Rupee. 75 lakhs |
| 4 | Rupee. 40 lakhs |
| Total | Rupee. 3.25 crores |
For those unaware, Tu Ya Main revolves around the story of a young modern couple’s survival against a deadly creature. The film is directed by Bejoy Nambiar, who previously directed Wazir (2016), Taish (2020) and Dange (2024) in Hindi. From business point of view his track record was very weak. It will be interesting to see how his latest directorial venture performs at the box office.
