Dharma Productions’ Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri starring Kartik Aryan and Ananya Panday is nearing its theatrical release. Advance booking was opened two days ago and the reports are not encouraging. As of 11 pm (Tuesday, December 23), Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri sold around 12,500 tickets across the top two national chains, PVR Inox and Cinepolis, for the opening day. A large part of these advances have been aided by external factors. Organic sales will be at a much lower level.
With still one day left, this quirky romantic comedy drama should show some momentum in advance sales to register a healthy start at the box office. Looking at the current pace and trends, Kartik Aryan’s film is looking to limit its pre-sales to around 30,000 admissions, which is not an appropriate figure for such a well-budgeted film backed by two popular faces.
Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is lagging behind Dharandhar and Avatar: Fire and Ash in advance sales for the Christmas Day holidays. However, this is not surprising as the rom-com genre in general is finding it difficult to attract audiences in the post-pandemic times, while the two holdover releases are performing very well at the box office. Furthermore, the promotional material of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri did not generate much curiosity among the audience.
A plus factor with the film is that it is a holiday release, which may give it some holiday audience. As a result, the forecast for the opening day has been reduced by Rs. Rs 6-10 crore. 5-8 crores.
