Trump murder suspect’s son arrested in child sex abuse case

The son of Ryan Routh, the man accused of plotting to assassinate Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on a golf course, has been arrested on charges of possession of child pornography. Oran Alexander Routh has been charged with receiving child pornography and another count of possession of child pornography, NBC News reports.

District court records showed that Oran Routh was arrested on Tuesday, while no attorney was listed for him. According to public reports, Oran is the son of Ryan Routh, who is believed to have plotted to target the former US president at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on September 15.

Hundreds of files exposed

According to the criminal complaint, the FBI searched Oran’s home in North Carolina on Saturday in connection with an unrelated case. An SD card was found in a phone in his bedroom that allegedly contained “hundreds” of files containing images of child sexual abuse.

These files include a “known” series of videos. The complaint states that it includes a video of a “pre-pubescent” girl, described as under 10 years of age, with an adult man.

Another handset recovered from Oran Routh contained a downloaded folder with additional video files. A review of the device revealed a video of an adult woman with a 6-8 year old child.

Additionally, investigating officers also found a messaging app on the smartphone that is “commonly used by individuals who distribute and receive child pornography.”

According to the complaint, the person sending the message from the handset asked for a preview of the digital content being sold. Later, two files were shared and both showed adults engaging in sexual activity with minors.

A warrant for Oran’s arrest was filed in federal court on Monday, NBC News reports.

Cocaine, MDMA, ketamine seized

Meanwhile, Oran Routh has also been charged with drug possession after law enforcement officials seized cocaine, ketamine and MDMA as well as gold and black trays containing white powder from his home.

Two felony and two misdemeanor charges also followed, records show.

The Case Against Ryan Routh

On Tuesday, US prosecutors charged Ryan Routh with attempting to assassinate Donald Trump, according to the US Justice Department. He has also been charged with possession of a gun in furtherance of a crime of violence, assaulting a Secret Service agent, and other charges.

He is currently in custody and faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment if found guilty in the case.
