Hridaynath Mangeshkar, brother of late singer Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar, announced plans to build Asia’s largest hospital. The state-of-the-art facility will be a lasting tribute to the legacy of the great sisters.

Paying an emotional tribute to legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, their brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar has announced a big project in their memory. They plan to build Asia’s largest hospital to honor his legacy.

The proposed facility aims to further the sisters’ influence through a state-of-the-art medical institution. Speaking about the initiative, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar said in a statement, “Lata Didi and Asha Tai were never just names for us, they were our breath.”

Project description and scale

The hospital project will be spread across a 40-acre campus, providing care to both patients and small animals.

Dr. Dhananjay Kelkar, Medical Director, Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Research Centre, shared that the Lataasha Mangeshkar Institute of Medical Sciences will have a 22.5 lakh sq. ft building with a 1000-bed surgical super specialty hospital. It is set to become one of the most modern specialized surgical hospitals in the country.

Installation ceremony and attendees

The foundation stone laying ceremony, which will also serve as a condolence meeting, is scheduled at 5 pm on April 16 at the project site at Nandoshi on Sinhagad Road. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar will participate, while RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat will preside over the event.

Remembering Asha Bhosle

Asha Bhosle was recently cremated with full state honors in Mumbai. He died on 12 April at the age of 92. Known for her versatility and unforgettable songs, she was a defining voice in Indian music for more than seven decades. His death was mourned by family, political leaders, fans and notable personalities from Bollywood and sports who gathered to pay tribute to him.

The 92-year-old singer received several prestigious awards including Padma Vibhushan and Maharashtra Bhushan for her immense contribution to Indian music.

Lata Mangeshkar’s legacy

Lata Mangeshkar, known as the vocal nightingale of India, died on 6 February 2022 at the age of 92. The Government of India honored him with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1989. He was awarded Bharat Ratna in 2001.
