Tovino Thomas and Basil Joseph are set to star together in Athiradi, which is scheduled to release on May 14, 2026. Before its release, the pair were seen together in Minnal Murali, where Tovino hinted at Basil’s return to direction.
Tovino Thomas hints at Basil Joseph’s film with Allu Arjun
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Tulsi Joseph Addressed the possibility of a sequel to Minnal Murali. He said, “I am not sure about Minnal Murali 2 right now. I am working on something else at the moment and it is taking a lot of time.”
When asked if this is an upcoming project with Allu Arjun, Basil replied that the film is still under discussion and in the planning stage. He further said, “I can’t talk about it right now.”
In the same conversation, Tovino Thomas Talked about plans for Minnal Murali 2 and joked, “We already had plans for parts two, three, four and five. I’m getting this question everywhere. Give me five or six months… No, but seriously, I’ll definitely come back to Minnal Murali 2, even if it’s much later, like when he’s at retirement age!”
Lastly, Tovino Thomas hinted that the audience will soon see director Basil Joseph in action again. “Maybe audiences won’t get to meet Malayalam director Basil Joseph very soon, but maybe audiences across India will,” the Pallichattambi actor said.
For those unaware, there is speculation that Basil Joseph will be collaborating soon allu arjun. Although the project has not been officially confirmed, the Pushpa star is expected to start shooting for it after completing her films Raaka with director Atlee and AA23 (LK07) with director Lokesh Kanagaraj.
