Actor Tom Cruise praised Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey after attending a late-night screening and sharing photos from the premiere on social media. His post highlighted his excitement for the theatrical experience ahead of the film’s worldwide release.

In a post on X, Cruise thanked Nolan, Emma, and the film’s team for the experience of seeing it in the theater. She wrote, “Wow! To Chris, Emma and all your amazing cast and crew. Thank you for an amazing night at the movie theater. I can’t wait to see it again!”

odysseyAn adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek poem, it follows Odysseus, played by actor Matt Damon, who faces trials and mythological encounters during a decade-long journey home after the Trojan War. He is trying to return to his wife Penelope, played by actor Anne Hathaway, and his son Telemachus, played by actor Tom Holland.
Actor Robert Pattinson is also playing a gray character in the film. He portrays Antinous, who wants Penelope’s hand in marriage and Odysseus’s throne in Ithaca.
The epic fantasy action film also stars Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jessie Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Raffi Gavron, Shiloh Fernandez, and Mia Goth in lead roles.
odyssey It was shot in several international locations including Greece, Morocco, Italy, Iceland and Scotland. Nolan and cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema used new, lighter-weight IMAX cameras on the film after years of working around the size, noise, and logistical demands of the format.
India Today, in its review for the film, wrote, “Nolan and his team create images that feel monumental without ever losing sight of the characters at their centre. The score is equally brilliant, which not only accompanies the visuals but breathes life into them, heightening the heartbreak, triumph and suspense with every note.”
The Odyssey is set for worldwide theatrical release on July 17.
