The top end of Huawei’s Mate 70 series is here – meet the Mate 70 Pro+ and Mate 70 RS. Both are more than a flashy version of the Mate 70 Pro – they have bigger batteries, more premium materials and more RAM.
The Mate 70 Pro+ may be better than the Pro, but it’s not as good as the RS on its own, so let’s break it down.
The Mate 70 Pro+ has a rear panel that is a mix of gold thread and brocade fiber. The nylon material is very durable and Huawei says it is adept at handling impacts. The textured surface catches light into bright star rings that sparkle.
The frame is made of titanium alloy with what Huawei calls a high gloss basalt (a dark fine-grained volcanic rock that sometimes exhibits a columnar structure) composition that is very strong, as well as scratch and drop resistant. The body is also IP69 resistant.
The screen is a 6.9-inch 2832x1316px LTPO 120Hz OLED with 2,500 nits of peak brightness and second-generation Kunlun glass on top. The screen includes a 3D face scanner, while the fingerprint scanner has been moved to the side of the phone.
Huawei Mate 70 Pro+
We guess that on the inside, the Mate 70 Pro+ uses the Kirin 9100 chipset, which is composed of all Cortex cores. The SoC is rumored to be a 6nm unit, and it uses Cortex-X1 cores (at 2.67GHz), Cortex-A78 cores (at 2.32GHz), and Cortex-A55 cores (at 2.02GHz). The Mate 70 Pro+ packages 16GB of RAM as standard. An Arc Engine is in charge of the overall smoothness and performance.
The Mate 70 Pro+ has three cameras on the back – a main 50MP RYYB sensor, along with a 24mm variable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture lens. It is followed by a 13mm f/2.2 ultrawide with a 40MP RYYB sensor, a 4x 92.5mm f/2.1 telephoto with close-focusing capabilities and a 48MP RYYB sensor. All cameras have autofocusing. On the front there is a 13MP f/2.4 selfie.
Finally, the Mate 70 Pro+ has a 5,700mAh battery (200mAh more than the 70 and 70 Pro) with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.
On Huawei Mate 70 RS. It’s also equipped with ‘High-Brightness Titanium’, but it also has a better display and glass. The screen has the same 6.9-inch diagonal, 120Hz LTPO technology, and FHD+ resolution, but it’s a dual-layer OLED that achieves a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. It is also covered with strong ‘basalt tempered Kunlun glass’.

The Mate 70 Pro+ comes in four colors – Ink Black, Feather White, Gold and Silver Brocade, and Flying Blue – and two configurations – 16/512GB and 16GB/1TB. Prices are CNY 8,499 (€1,120, INR 99,000, converted) and CNY 9,499 (€1,250, INR 110,600).
