Liam Payne’s death is an extreme shock that the world is still trying to recover from. The singer had an impressive career and remained in the news due to his achievements and his high-profile relationship and later breakup with his former fiancée Maya Henry.
According to E! According to the news outlet, the pair became the talk of the internet when a One Direction fan account shared a photo showing Payne with an unidentified woman. He was seen with his arms around her. She tagged her then-fiancé Henry in the photo, to which he responded.
“I love all the fans so much, but please stop sending me pictures of my fiancé with another woman,” she said, according to the outlet. It’s not me, and without seeing it it’s hard enough to know that it happened. “Please, enough already.”
Although, in the comment, she referred to the late singer as her fiancé, reports later revealed that the pair had actually split. Representatives for the One Direction alum confirmed to People magazine that they broke up in April 2022.
This was not the first time that they had a breakup. According to The Things outlet, there was clearly trouble in paradise when they split in 2021.
For those unaware, Payne and Henry sparked romance rumors in 2018 and reportedly got engaged in 2020, with soon after, according to the publication, the singer expressed that they were really satisfied.
But soon they broke up. He confirmed the news when he appeared on The Diary of a CEO podcast in June 2021, saying yes when asked if he was single.
At the time, he spoke of being “disappointed” in himself and continued to offend people he was angry with. He said that he has not been very good at relationships.
The Strip That Down singer shared, “And I know what the pattern of my things is with relationships, I feel at this point. I’m not very good at them so I need to work on myself before I put myself on someone else. And I feel like that’s where I came to in my last relationship.”
According to reports, two months later, Payne and Henry were spotted vacationing together, resuming their engagement. However, their fairy-tale-like romance ended in 2022. Later, he started dating Kate Cassidy. Sadly, the singer passed away at the age of 31 on October 16, 2024, while staying at the Casasur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires.
