Bollywood megastars Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are among the most iconic names in the industry. However, due to the similar wrestling theme in Sultan and Dangal, rumors of a rift between the two emerged. Aamir had once opened up about this alleged feud by revealing that there is no animosity between them. In fact, he shared that Salman actually played an important role in getting him the title of Dangal.
During a promotional event for Dangal, Aamir Khan revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes story of how he got the title of his film thanks to none other than Salman Khan. The actor revealed that initially the title Dangal was listed in the script, but the rights were actually held by Punit Issar.
Knowing about Salman’s close relationship with Puneet, Aamir Khan reached out to him for help. Without any hesitation, Bhaijaan called Puneet and arranged for both of them to meet. Despite rumors about rivalry between their films due to similar wrestling themes, the Dangal actor shared that Salman’s support was crucial in securing the title, and Punit was very generous in the process.
He said, “Actually Salman called Puneet and said that he wants the title, Jab Woh Sultan Ban Raha Aur People Say Humalog Ek Aapse Se Jagda Rahe Rahein, That Is A Wrestling Film. But it is nothing like that, Salman has actually asked for help.
Aamir further revealed that after Salman’s intervention, Punit Issar offered the title, mentioning that he was not using it and Aamir’s team could take it in his place. And thus Dangal ended with its iconic title.
On the professional front, Salman Khan is currently busy shooting for his action-packed thriller Sikander, which will release in theaters on Eid 2025. The film is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by AR Murugadoss.
